I probably should have broken this down into a bunch of smaller articles, but I thought it was good enough as one big piece.

I generally suspect GW will "overcorrect" in one direction in order to ensure future changes back in the other direction are viable options desired by the community. So while I expect it to be expanded in some ways, in what particular method I can't say for sure.

I'd say this much: It wouldn't surprise me if dedicated transports and flyers got their own Force Org limits, just to balance the game and force us to buy the other "wasted" units that get produced.

I would go ahead and add a fourth tip. If possible bring along the most recent FAQ for your army, that way when a possible rules question comes up that the FAQ addresses you can hand the copy to your opponent rather than getting the TO and hoping that they have access to either the FAQ or the correct answer. This has saved me on some rules disputes as some codexes rely on FAQ's more than others. I'm looking at you tyranids!

Thanks for the article. Just coming back to the game, it's a little overwhelming to think that I'll be seeing another release in the near future. I might be dating myself mentioning that I started in late 2nd Edition and quit late 3rd. I chuckled at the comment of Plasma, as in 3rd it was king as well. So as I dust off all my models, I came to realize that all of these Plasma Gunners and Plasma Cannons might not make it to the front of the paint line ;). The most surprising thing I noticed was your Force Orginization Chart thoughts. I was surprised by this one, and expected to see something more along the lines of deepening the existing tiers, ie. 3 tiles to 4 per stack, as adding a full 3 more Elite and Fast Attack slots seems like a widely unbalanced force. Do you thing it would create forces comprised of mainly Elite and Fast Attack choices?

It's tough for me because I don't approve of either practice. I prefer people to have justified reasoning behind their army selections but at Evil Dice we have never turned away anyone for how they play their army. My suggestions are meant to enhance people's gaming experiences, and you would be fighting a losing battle trying to convince me that plonking down six unit of unpainted AoBR marines with their primed-only Razorbacks would be equally as fun as something like Dave's great looking Fists army. I've seen the images in his blog and he has put a lot of great work into them. I would never deny anyone the opportunity to do such a thing.

However, similary, I don't agree with Bryan's point of view either. Almost every army has fast options, long range, or outflanking/deep-striking units, and if you face an army that uses all but a single unit, that means they all share the same weaknesses as well as advantages, and you simply have to change your approach. I never discourage an army because it is tough. I do however feel I should discourage armies which people do in order to avoid participating fully in the hobby. I'm not a hobby nazi by any stretch of the imagination, but I do believe strongly in supporting the game -- which is something that Mr. "I will use the same 40 models and Rhino-sized slats of cardboard for Codex X Y and Z" is not doing.

Please do not take this personally as this is only my opinion to your post, and as the codex is not in hand I may be a little off but you are wanting to run an Imperial Fist bike army, which is something I've wanted to add to my own beloved fists but its one of many projects. My question would be, and only in hopes of gaining a better understanding of both our takes on this. If you were to run a captain on bike, bikes can be taken as troops allowing that build, but if you were to add K'saro then you gain all the special rules associated with him, outflank, scout etc. Now from a fluff, purist point of view, thats not Imperial Fists fight, even with their bikes, so from my point of view you would be running yellow white scars as that fits into their doctrine. Onto the second point I hope I didn't make you feel like you shouldn't be allowed to do this nor would I ever stop you from doing so. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean its the way it is.

Now what I hope is that we didn't get the fluff perspective mixed up with that of spamming. I see these as two very different aspects of the game, each influence the game in a very different way. Running yellow marines as space wolves, green marines as wolves etc. Does it take from the game itself not so much beyond a visual appeal, but spamming is where I wish some would draw the line and again theres nothing we can do to stop it, its certainly within the rule set but I feel breaks the spirit of the game, if you bring razorspam against my all comers list, I haver very little chance of halting the tide of lascannons and plasma guns coming my way as well as being able to break 9ish Amor 11 tanks at roughly 65 points each. Is this a viable list, yes. Is it legal, also yes, fun to play against, not once in any time I've faced it. I do not find it enjoyable to see my opponent skipping both the movement and assault phases as there is nothing to move or assault. Every unit is tucked safely away in a transport sitting on his board edge firing away. This is where I termed the phrase dicehammer, he could have had cardboard boxes for all the difference it would make in the game.

Again I don't sit here and tell people how to play or what they should play or even what color their marines, nids, etc should be, only that coming from my perspective, a yellow Khan in an Imperial Fist army simply gives you the benefits of his special rules more so than just saying I want to run a biker army for the fists.
